Celebrating Me By Johnnie Greene

Nicole D. Vick
Stylist. Author. Activist. Thought Leader. Nicole D. Vick is a public health advocate, educator, author, civic leader, and fashion and beauty aficionado. For 20 years she’s worked with community based organizations and residents to improve health and prevent disease in South Los Angeles. She’s a professor who loves to infuse her lived experience and work experience into her lectures.
From the Board Room to her backyard, Nicole D. Vick’s love of community manifests in many ways. For several years she’s opened her home to the community by hosting pop-up shops to support local businesses owned by black women and create awareness of the benefits of shopping local.
A true fashionista, she helps women embrace their bodies and find their sense of style without breaking the bank.
In 2020, Nicole D. Vick released her memoir, Pushing Through: Finding the Light in Every Lesson. She shares both the heartbreaking pain and the extraordinary triumphs that led her to advocacy and social justice work. Her story takes place against the background of the long neglected and overlooked community of South-Central Los Angeles, where she grapples with the grotesque imbalance of power and privilege as it unfolds in every aspect of her life and those around her.
